  • I learned as a preteen to raise food, we just had to learn not to get attachments. It’s not that easy. I remember our first rabbit that we had for meatpen and it wasn’t easy but it is life. If you raise chickens and collect the eggs, you eat them without thinking about it.

  • I spent some time on my uncles farm. While I was there there they butchered a steer. They shot him and verified his demise. Afterward they hung him by his heels with a backhoe and skinned him. From there we carried bowl after bowl, bone after slab to the back kitchen. It wasn't divided because they had 3 teenage sons and a church.

Know the difference because my mother and I fed and cleaned hutches.I couldn't eat rabbit that year though. We had a pet deer the neighbors had bottle fed then left the farm she came to our house we took care of her.It was cool having a pet deer but we never contained her so she roamed freely.

  • The complainers are equating your meat animals with pets. They may think that slaughtering a steer is the same as killing your dog. I guarantee that if they were on a desert island with nothing but their dog, they'd eat it if they were starving.

  • I get it. You can raise your own meat and gave them a high quality life. My dad was raised on a farm. I think it was primarily crops but I'm sure they had chickens. When I was about 14-15 yo, my folks and brothers moved out to a 5 cre plot of land. We had chickens. Dad processed them. We ate the eggs and chicken. Best tasting that we ever had. If I could do it, I would raise everything that I eat. But, not sure if I could send a steer, etc that I raised off to slaughter now that I'm so much older. But I do love meat and some fish. But buying from some place like crowded that buy from small farms, etc would be something that I would buy from. Around me, we have Market Wagon that delivers to the customer various foods from local producers. I have used them, milk, eggs, meat were so good and worth the higher cost than the grocery stores.

  • Hi I'm Sheryn from NewZealand and I just love wot ur all doing,it's better than going to the store and buying processed this and processed that,it's all natural and wot we as humans have been doing since time began.Theres to many 🌴 huggers, vegens and pc people in this world,I sometimes think, where and how will these people b if something happens and we all have to go back to living off the land,We don't have animals now but in the past we did and ate them,it's just wot we do.We do though have a vege garden every year. With covid and wot comes with that,iv gone back to dehydrating everything in sight and preserving, making chutneys and jam and I just love it.My husband and I are in our late sixties, the kids have left home and some of the grandkids(that we raised)have gone seeking new adventures, and well we don't get to see the great grandies much as they live far away😥,but that's life,it is wot it is,anyway enough of me ranting, keep doing wot ur doing.love and blessings from us to uz

  • Some people like you said should not make any qualms on the way you are feeding your family and the thing about it is they don't know what they're missing, when you raise your own beef, pork, and chickens which includes ducks, turkeys, geese because you are feeding them grains and if they range fed your supplementing them with additional grains not any of the off the wall birds or meat producing countries that sell their products in USA CHEAPER TO CUT THE HOME GROWN FOODS OUT OF THE BUSINESS.

  • I can't think of a better respect for the animal than to raise it on your own, love it as a living being, raise it YOUR way and then salvage every part of the meat that you can to feed the family who raised it! How do these people think our ancestors ate before there were grocery stores? Grocery stores don't treat their animals with respect. They're overcrowded and not loved at all.

  • If your gonna eat meat then at least be responsible for it as your doing. From the beginning to the end a lot more work than going to the supermarket buying it in plastic wrap. If they don't like it don't watch the channel. Im a vegetarian but appreciate that if you eat meat you have a relationship with it, grow it love it and then all that love comes back to you..

It’s incredible to be able to process when the animal is at its peak instead of relying on a butcher date. Now if we could just get another deep freezer... lol

  • Here's what I say. Those people who are offended by you slaughtering your animals should go take a tour of a cattle yard and a slaughterhouse. And see how the meat they buy is treated and processed. They may never eat meat again! The animals are killed in front of each other and they are all filled with fear toxins as well as other crap they are fed while being raised. They will never be given a scratch on the forehead and a loving boost away. They are mainly wild animals unused to much contact with men and who never experience love and caring from them.
