Round up will get in your water table, then everything is poisoned.
Natural Weed Killer Recipe 1 gallon white vinegar 1 cup salt 1 tablespoon liquid dish soap Combine ingredients in a spray bottle and treat weeds at the sunniest time of day for best results.
I use glyphosate mixed with diesel (instead of water), a tip from a lawn man. Works amazing.
A goat with no horns keeps my fence tidy
Thanks brother. Great video. As a city boy looking to retire to the country, I need all the pointers I can get and this one ill remember. Thanks.
My nbiggest problem is with trespassing hunters and fishermen and other "sportsmen' cutting the fences and tearing down the keep out signs. plus the suburbanites who want to expand their yards and gardens into other peoples property. I like my grass in the ditches to be about a foot tall to slow down the rain water and keep it from eroding the ditch.
We used to spread Karmex along our fence lines. Nothing grew under or by them for 5 years. No reason to stock to look for the grass on the other side of the fence. There wasn't any for 2 feet on either side. Made life much easier. Looks like your enjoying retirement. RETIREMENT! Your probably working harder now than before.
I am not a farmer but I comment on how nice a farm looks when their fence line is clean when we pass one
As a "kid" growing up on a farm. After storm, we had to walk the fence line and see if and trees or limbs are on the fence. We had to take a hammer and nails with us and fix the fence. (Wood post back then.) We use herbicides, Round Up.
11:28 - Wouldn't it be nice if there was a swing-out arm on each side of the riding mower that holds a weed-eater head so you can trim under around the fence posts as you go? Enjoyed your video today!
One way to help keep the weeds and brush from growing along the fence row is with a walk behind string trimmer that gets right under the fence and they make a nice spring loaded trimmer ya can put on your tractor for long fence rows that you don't have to worry to much with each post cause it get right to the post and the spring will allow it to give way and keep on mowing trimming the fence row you probably know what im talking about and id bet gp rents has one .
Ever heard of a wind break.
Did I just see you toss into yard????? I hope not!
Why are these vlogs replaying?
Good tips!
I love those mowers.
Love your content you always speak the truth and things that mean since. I have my on channel now to. Wild will’s adventures check it out.
Great advice!!💖🐱👤
We bought a farm two years ago and the fences are grew up exactly like you are talking about. The fence u fed it is actually in decent shape. What’s the best way to clear out all of the brush? Most people have told me to have it dozed out and put up new. Not really wanting to spend all that money if I can save the old stuff.
I started using Green Gobbler weed killer, to stay away from chemicals. greengobbler.com/collections/20-and-30-vinegar Check it out you may like it. pet and Child safe
I think people freak out over herbicides too much. Doing that little bit around the edge of the fence isn’t going to hurt anything, 1 foot away the grass is perfectly fine so what’s it really going to hurt. If they want to get real fancy they could use vinegar and salt if they wanna pay the extra money but using that little bit of spray around the bottom of the fence isn’t going to hurt anything. There on food that you eat I agree you have to be careful and not be excessive with it, But if used properly it’s not a big deal. You’re right with the fences, it’s just like anything else, maintenance makes a huge difference. If you have wood siding on your house and you paint that every six or eight years that house will last 200 years if you don’t paint it and water gets into that wood it’s gonna last 20 years.
Interesting information, I like how you keep up your property. I'm sure you have more time for this now. All the best!
I love your property you keep it so nice your kids are blessed to have the awesome creek and a awesome Dad.
If people don’t want to use herbicide to control weeds under their electric fencing they can put cardboard or whole , overlapping, newspapers under their fence line.
THANK YOU, now I know I'm not alone here in Oklahoma that tries to keep the brush out of my fence lines. Now if I could get the stuff the tree service put on the saplings under the power lines, I'd be set.
Check out Living Traditions Homestead for an organic herbicide he uses around his fencing. It worked.
I’m sharing a property with an older gentlemen. His philosophy is “it’s not my property I’m not putting money into it, carry a roll of 14 gauge soft wire and patch the fence. Let the trees grow into the fence they will be a new post, attach the fence to the nearest tree if the post is rotted out. Cattle won’t go through blackberry bushes or vine thickets”. Growing up on a ranch I couldn’t adopt his philosophy of fence maintenance. I’m out there clearing trees that have fallen on the fence, replacing rotten posts. Also helps trespassers know someone is always out there, find an easier target somewhere else.
Hi....... Daniel ,Thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐕🐖🐈🌱🐐🐄🐟🎣 🎥👍👍👍
Can you tell Weston I said hi
Round up has cancer causing properties. I would not use anything like it around your garden
Where i work we have a tow behind steamer we do weed controle using plain water that has been super heated it works well and lasts along time with no chemicals used
Besides the cost, there is the hard work to put fences up
Summer beard looking good.
You have to train a land girl.

How much space do you like to leave between the ground and the bottom of your sheep & goat fence?
Fencing is huge! Always enjoy your channel!
What was the electric netting called?
Thats what I've got to do is work on my fencing some! I do it when I cut my grass! I try to do it all but whew sometimes I just can't do it! I have to break it up in a few days at a time! This heat is a killer! Next video you put up Daniel, Please have Bear in it! I miss him so bad! I just love him...He's so sweet n loving! Bella is to and I love her, but I wanna see Bear! God Bless you n Your Family and stay Prayed Up! Much love n prayers! 🙏❤💪🇺🇸👊
Oklahoma is in trouble!!! Stopthecrime.net just put out that THE OKLAHOMA HOUSE HAS JUST PASSED FORCED VACCINE. THEY WILL GIVE YOU A BRACELET AS PROOF THAT YOU GOT THE SHOT. PASS IT ALONG. Take care.
If you have a old tractor that has the three point then a sickle bar will go under most of the lowest fence lines and get a good strip plus it will nibble those pesky smallish trees that are just getting started... and the distance that you can go in a day is appreciative of what can be done for maintenance for even just the looks. I know it sounds like I want to spend your money but its rewarding looking back on it. I guess that if I had my way then everyone would have such a toy and a brush hog to go with. Houston and his buddy could run tractors up and down the fence once he outgrows the "I heard you age" as they tend to get into more mischief than should be. I think once he gets it he is going to be a good farmer... Its the getting them past the consequences of actions thats the hard part. Alone now and one of them would be into that blade and done for
Getting ready to build fence on 360 acres very hilly and rocky going to try to clear a thirty foot or wider strip so I can run a 15. Foot batwing on either side of fence. Want to keep cattle goat sheep. Thinking three strand barb wire with electric high tensile . Any ideas or suggestions
Australia we need fire breaks enough for water trucks to drive the whole perimeter of your property.... it makes sense you can unhindered.
bad boys bad boys whatca gonna do when daniel comes for you
Some of it looks like been
Try vinegar and rock salt in your spraying job. Just a thought.
Btw have you lost weight ? Not that you needed to but you look lighter
i will do her right
You’re such a great role model and a good dad and for the people that sees this comment your awesome and you have your deeds
NICE SHOT OF THE ROAD AFTER YOU GET PASSED YOUR CREEK DRIVEWAY !!!!!
Poop !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Brother! If you take rock salt and pour it along the fence line, it will kill ALL the plant life. Its only salt so it does not hurt any thing, AND it is SUPER CHEAP!!! Just ma 2 cents...
Do you know the ingrams that live in Ardmore
Thanks for the reminder. Love you guys
JudithB Yes!!! Fighting Privet here, that my neighbor planted 20 yrs ago, Now it pops up everywhere! My mower has been down for several years now, and I have a disaster cleanup to do this fall. I will have to get one of those electric tree trimmers for sure!!! Sure like how you have been able to use yours. Fences are very important and maintaining them is an important part of farm/homestead husbandry! Thanks
This was a very nice and informative video, thanks for sharing, 😊👍💕💕💕
Nice video, and nice job as always. Stay cool!
Trust me I am going through that problem right now! I bought a property that has fence all around my property grown up just like the one you showed. Little by little I am trying to get it fixed.
Around your garden you can use concentrated salt water. The crushed salt that people use in a water softener works great and won't harm your garden soil
I need something that will kill everything on my fence, it's chain link so it's a little hard to trim around.
You are so right about fence upkeep. Yes they will last a really long time if you take care of them.
Lord bless you and your family Brother
I want just 10 acres so bad 😭
Fun fact in Indiana it is against the law, to allow thistles to grow up along your fence row, or keep them in your field!!! They are a menace to any farmers!
Could you move your goats around to clean up some of those overgrown fence areas? I hope to one day have something like you have and envision me using goats to clear brush for hunting, gardening and whatever else. Thanks for the video.
Nothing but a paid advertisement
Thank. You. Daniel you inspired me to trim the jungle from. My. Neighbors side. Of the. Fence which is. Ignored every. Year so itrimed it with my lader leaning into my. Neighbors. Yard which gets ignored. Every year. Thankyou. Daniel. Sincerly. Yours. Mr.don
That one section of fencing that has not been taken care of looks just like my landlord's fencing and we have cows getting out all the time. We just mend and that's it.
I just always put weed killer by the fence and it always kills trees and unwanted grass.
did you shave?
So is DeeJay home schooling this younings?
I learn so much from your videos....And your family is precious...
Great video and subject matter. Like a lot of farmers and ranchers I wear gloves for the work on my homestead. What brand of gloves do you wear and where can I purchase them? Keep delivering this relevant information. God bless. Cowboy Clay
Houston gets a peace ✋🏻 from me at the end of every video Nooooo matter!!! Really love you guys
I am totally into this video. I, personally, cannot and will not support Soros and Monsanto. They will not get a dime from me. Oh, they own Roundup and Miracle Grow.
Yes maintenance on a fence rolls are very important I'm a big believer in keeping them clean I even keep 600 feet of my neighbors clean because he's just not able anymore so I don't mind helping him out.....
I always mow close to my fence, then I go along and use my weedeater along a mile of fence line. I then spray my fence line to keep the weeds down. Like you, I only use a herbicide (glyphosate) along my fencing.
It never fails, I have at least 1 tree a year fall on the fence.
Man your friend Dutch is such a cry baby. Youtubing is not easy. Its hard work and long hours. To tell you the truth if i get turned of a channel i stop watching and look for channel i like. He's complaining that subscribersare trying to turn him in. Who cares. Just keep on making good videos. GOD BLESS.
hi
Poison works I use on woody weeds on fence lines . Great vlog Daniel 😁👍
I've been worried about Bear, I haven't noticed him in the last few videos. Taking care of fences is good, seeing Bear...awesome. Lol
good advice as always
Tell Houston I said hi
Hi Daniel
Remedy tank mixed with 2,4-D is awesome on fence rows.
Great video Daniel. Very true points. Thank you.
Try using hot vinegar as a herbicide. It will kill the grass etc. but is very safe and also VERY cheap!❤
I love Exmark! We have three zero turns at work!!!
You are so right. Maintaining your initial investment is always a good idea. You may have just reminded someone of it's importance. Good video content.
Daniel I am going to bust your chops for not wearing chaps, YOUR life matters fella! Yup I care...
That's a great visual example of fence maintenance (and neglect). Thx for providing it.
Good practice to trim the fence areas. 💖
Try spraying white vinegar instead of Round up
We cut and maintain our widowed neighbours huge thick privet hedge its 15ft high that borders our prooery as it benefits both of us and its true they say . good fences make good neighbours or in our case good neighbours make good fences 🤣
Fire break, shooting lane, visual lane, amongst benefits of cleared fence lines.
I was wondering would white vinger do the same thing for killing weeds on a fence line? ~ kinda afraid of chemicals
Nicely trimmed beard and mustache. Be happy at your reduced face shaving.
Just replaced a very old barbed fence with a goat and sheep fence. The perimeter was my Christmas gift to me and a pasture fenced was my birthday gift! Am now saving money to start cross fencing the woods for goats. Hope the goats will help weed eat the edges! Good advice!
Up here in the pacific northwest a few of us fence maintenance is fire breaks.
